Artist's Description
These stairs and the two pedestrian bridges provided a way for steelworkers to travel from Pittsburgh's Greenfield and Squirrel Hill neighbors [and make the climb home at end of shift]. The first bridge crosses over the expressway, Route 376. The lower bridge crosses Hazelwood [Second] Avenue. Along the strip mills, the bridge over the expressway no longer exists.
